The Secret Ingredient that Changes Dirt Cake Forever!
Dirt Cake is a classic. How could you possibly improve it? Well, for once I did not do it by simply adding an appropriate alcohol of some sort. We did it with Reese’s Peanut Butter Sauce!
Things to know:
What are the ingredients in dirt cake?
Dirt cake ingredients include crushed chocolate sandwich cookies, instant vanilla or chocolate pudding, and a creamy mixture made from cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and whipped topping. It can be further tweaked by incorporating other ingredients like Bailey’s Irish Cream, or in this case Reese’s Peanut Butter Sauce.
How long does dirt cake last?
Dirt cake can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 5 days, but for the best taste and texture, it’s recommended to eat it within 3 to 4 days. It’s best to store it in an airtight container and be aware that the cookies will soften over time. However, if it lasts more than a day after first serving, you must be making it wrong!
Why is dirt cake called dirt cake?
The name of the dish refers to the fact that the cake has a rough, messy, and dirty look due to the crushed Oreos. Often, gummy worms are placed on top of the cake along with the whipped cream, acting as a decoration. Some even serve it in a flower pot!
Which country is Reese’s from?
From the country that brought you the internet, the moon landing and the Tiger King…the good ol’ USA!
Is Reese’s owned by Hershey?
After being founded in 1928, Reese’s was sold to the Hershey Company in 1963 by the founder’s six sons.
Where is Oreo originally from?
Believe it or not, New York City. The creation of Sam Porcello, a food scientist, were first made by the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) in 1912.
