A Meat Masterpiece from the Midwest! | Oklahoma Onion Bourbon Burger
What was meant to be a way to stretch a meat supply and make meals more affordable, turned out to be a culinary delight. The Oklahoma Onion Burger is easy to make and absolutely delicious! Here it is, with a Galley of the Sun twist, made on a Blackstone Griddle.
Ingredients (for 4 burgers):
2 sweet onions
2T of Bourbon (of course we used Brown Sugar Bourbon)
2 lbs ground beef (we used course grind aged ground beef)
4 brioche buns
8 slices cheese (we used sharp cheddar, but white American is also a great choice)
beef tallow (wagyu if you have it)
1. Peel and quarter the onions, then shred in a food processor.
placed the shredded onions in a kitchen towel and twist to remove as much water as possible.
2. Place the squeezed onions in a bowl and add 2T of bourbon.
3. Diving the beef into 8 4 oz. balls
4. Melt the beef tallow on your griddle.
5. Place a ball of meat on the griddle. After about 30 seconds, flip the ball, place 1/8th of the onions on top of the ball of meat, then smash with a press.
6. Repeat 7 more times.
7. After a crust is developed on the patty (about 4 min), flip the patty.
8. Place a piece of cheese on each patty.
9. Place the top bun on top of the cheese, and the bottom on top of the top bun.
10. After about 4 more minutes, take 4 of the patties and place them on top of the other 4 patties.
11. Grab the bottom bun, apply a good amount of mayo, then place your 2 stack of patties and onions on top.
12. Serve and ENJOY!
