How to Transform your Weiners into Winners! | The Honolulu Bang Bang Dog

Why just have a hot dog or polish sausage in a bun? This is one of the 2 of the menu items from Umai Savory Hot Dogs, an upscale Hot Dog restaurant in San Francisco we have recreated!

Ingredients

 

Sourdough Hot Dog Bun

Kielbasa

Fresh pineapple slice

1 t Honey  

Applewood Smoked Bacon

Diced Red Onions

Teriyaki Hoisin Sauce  (see recipe below)

For the Honolulu Bang Bang

1. Fire up your grill.

2. On a skillet or griddle, cook the bacon until crispy, then crumble.

3. Spread the honey on both sides of your pineapple slice.  Place it on the grill and cook until you get some good char marks on each side. (About 2 minutes per side).

4. Dice the pineapple.

5. Grill the kielbasa until the skin is good and crispy on all sides.

6. Place the kielbasa in the bun.  Top with diced onions, diced pineapple, drizzle on the teriyaki hoisin sauce, then top with bacon crumbles.  Serve and ENJOY!

For the Teriyaki Hoisin Sauce

3 T brown sugar  

2 T soy sauce   

1 T rice vinegar  

1 T hoisin sauce  

1 T water

1 t sesame oil  

2 t arrowroot starch or cornstarch  

1/4 t garlic powder  

1/8 t ground ginger  

1. In a small saucepan, whisk together all the ingredients until well combined.

2. Bring everything to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer just until the sauce thickens. Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
