Cuban Hot Dog Panini

The Humble Hot Dog Meets a Miami Masterpiece: Cuban Hot Dog Sandwich

Why have just a regular hot dog? Why just have a regular Cuban Sandwich? You can have both!

Ingredients:

Loaf of Cuban sandwich bread or French loaf 

Mustard  

Mayo  

Thinly sliced black forest ham 

Thinly sliced dill spears 

Sliced Swiss cheese 

Hot dogs 

2 T melted butter 

NOTE:  For this monstrosity, we are using our home made hotdogs, so they must first be cooked to an internal temperature of 165. 

 

1. Slice the loaf lengthwise almost all the way through but with a “hinge” remaining. 

2. Slather mustard and mayo on both sides of the loaf. 

3. Place a layer of cheese on both sides of the bun. 

4. Place a layer of sliced dill pickles on one side of the bun. 

5. Cut the hot dogs lengthwise and place on bun. 

6. Cover the hot dogs with a layer of ham 

7. Fold the sandwich together and brush the top side with butter. 

8. Place the sandwich, buttered side down, on a griddle and press with weighted press or a cast iron skillet. 

9. After about 3 minutes, remove the press/cast iron skillet, brush the top side of the sandwich with butter, flip and press the other side on the sandwich into the grilled. 

10. After 3 more minutes, remove from the griddle, cut and serve! ENJOY!
