Crunchy Strawberry White Chocolate Ice Cream

Crunchy Strawberry White Chocolate Ice Cream

As soon as I saw those Freeze Dried Yogurt Covered Strawberries on the shelf at Trader Joe’s, I knew exactly what I was going to do with them!

Things to know:

Are freeze-dried strawberries still healthy?

Yes, freeze-dried strawberries are healthy because they keep most of their original vitamins, fiber, and nutrients, but you must watch your portion sizes because the sugar and calories are concentrated.

What are the downsides of freeze-dried fruit?

The main downside of freeze-dried fruit is that removing water concentrates its natural sugars and calories, making it very easy to overeat and consume excess calories.

What’s the healthiest freeze-dried fruit?

Freeze-dried berries—specifically blueberries and strawberries—are the healthiest choices because they deliver high levels of antioxidants and fiber with lower natural sugar content than tropical options.

Is Ninja® CREAMi™ better than an ice cream maker?

We certainly think so, but it really depends on preference.  The biggest con of the CREAMi is that you have to freeze the mixture for 24 hours before you can enjoy the treat.  We feel that the versatility of this magical device is well worth the wait.  Plus with a few extra containers and a little bit of planning, the day after you buy your CREAMi is the only day that you ever have to go without ice cream, gelato, frozen custard, or any of the other treats it produces.  Not including the equipment necessary to freeze the treats as you make them makes the CREAMi more affordable and compact.

What country grows the most strawberries?

China ranks first globally, producing a large majority of the world’s supply (mostly for domestic use).  USA is second.

Is white chocolate made from real chocolate?

Yes.  White chocolate is made from cocoa butter, a component of the cacao bean.  The solids of the cacao bean is what gives “regular” chocolate it’s color.

Ingredients:

2 T whipped cream cheese

2/3 cup Ghirardelli White Chocolate powder

1 cup whole milk

3/4 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup Strawberry Real, Strawberry Puree Infused Syrup

1/4 cup Trader Joe’s Freeze Dried Strawberry Strawberries Pieces Yogurt Candy Coating Snack

1. Microwave cream cheese for 15 seconds, then whisk until smooth.

2. Add milk and strawberry syrup then whisk until solids are dissolved.

3. Whip in white chocolate powder.

4. Whisk in heavy cream.

5. Place storage lid on pint and freeze for at least 24 hours.

6. After at least 24 hours, place on Ninja® CREAMi™ and select Ice Cream setting.

7. Place the freeze dried strawberries to a ziplock bag and whack them with a meat tenderizer.  You are not trying to make a powder, just breaking up the pieces a bit.

8. Add the strawberry pieces to the container, place back on the  Ninja® CREAMi™ and select Mix-in setting.

9. If ice cream is still soft, freeze for at least 4 hours, then serve.

10. Serve and ENJOY!
