Unlock the Secret of Deliciously Crunchy Boom Boom Shrimp!
Shrimp. Battered Fried Shrimp. Battered fried shrimp bathed in an amazing sauce! Here is our take on someone else’s take on the Bonefish Grill’s Bang Bang Shrimp.
Boom Boom Shrimp
For the breading:
2 cups buttermilk
3/4 cup of corn starch
3 T of AP flour
2 T Code3Spices Sea Dog Rub (or your favorite seafood rub)
1 healthy pinch of salt and pepper
For the Sauce:
1/2 cup of mayonnaise (We use Kewpie)
1/4 cup of Thai Sweet Chili Sauce (I recommend Melinda’s Brand)
2 T Sriracha
3 minced cloves of garlic
1. Mix all of the sauce ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
2. Peel and devein the shrimp and place in a bowl of buttermilk.
3. Heat your fryer to 350F.
4. In another bowl, mix together your corn starch, flour, seafood rub, salt and pepper.
5. Remove the shrimp from the buttermilk in batches that support your fryer basket size. Doing more shrimp per batch makes the cooking go quicker, but you do not want to crowd your basket and cause your shrimp to clump together. Place the shrimp in the dry Ingredients bowl and thoroughly coat.
6. Place the shrimp into the fryer and fry until golden brown (about 2-4 minutes). Remove the shrimp to a baking sheet with a wire rack and repeat until all of the shrimp is cooked.
7. Dredge the fried shrimp in the Boom Boom/Bang Bang sauce and serve! ENJOY!
