Things to know:
Where was the cheeseburger invented?
The cheeseburger was invented in Pasadena, California, around 1924 by Lionel Sternberger, a teenage fry cook at his father’s roadside stand, The Rite Spot, when he experimentally added a slice of cheese to a sizzling hamburger, creating “The Aristocratic Burger”. While other places claim origins, Pasadena has historical documentation and a commemorative plaque marking this first recorded instance.
