What is yum yum sauce made of?

Traditional Yum Yum sauce is made with mayo, ketchup, rice vinegar, then spices such as paprika, cumin, garlic powder and onion powder.  Our Mexican Yum Yum sauce includes diced chipotles in adobo.

Is yum yum sauce sriracha and mayo?

No.  Yum Yum sauce is sweet and savory while sriracha may is a spicy garlicky sauce.

This one may surprise you.  Yum Yum sauce was developed in the Untied States for Japanese American restaurants.  The person credited for being the first to bottle and mass produce this delicious sauce is Terry Ho, a restaurant owner in Georgia.  Another thing that may surprise you is that the sauce has only been mass produced since 2012!

Ingredients:

 

1 cup mayonnaise  

2 T ketchup 

2 T diced chipotles in adobo  

2 t rice vinegar  

1/2 t paprika 

1/2 t cumin 

1 t garlic powder  

1 t onion powder  

1 T granulated sugar  

 

1. In a small bowl, whisk all ingredients together until smooth. If desired, add hot sauce to taste.

2. To thin out sauce, add 1 tablespoon of water at a time until desired consistency is reached.

3. Cover and chill for up to 1 week. ENJOY!
